Chuffed to share Disha and Neil’s wedding was featured on Martha Stewart:
Disha and Neil, a modern couple with a vision, chose to break away from the confines of a traditional Indian wedding. They embraced a minimalist aesthetic, artfully reinterpreting numerous Indian customs to reflect a more contemporary, chic style.
The Venue
Capitol One Hall in Tysons, Virginia, was their chosen stage, a venue that exudes sleek, contemporary architectural beauty. The hall’s grand windows let in an abundance of natural light, highlighting its modern materials and bold, striking lines – a perfect foundation for their chic wedding.
The Ceremony
Their ceremony showcased an innovative twist on the traditional four-pillar mandap. Sarah Khan Event Styling, along with her team of creative wizards, designed a stunning backdrop of natural branches and pastel florals, including roses, hydrangeas, and Spanish moss, all set within minimalist open pillars. The gentle ocean-green backdrop lent an extra touch of modernity and a breezy, open feel to the ceremony.
Adding a dash of glamour, Neil made his grand baraat entrance in a bold green Lamborghini, accompanied by his close ones, to join Disha’s family in the traditional milni ceremony.
The Attire
The couple’s attire was a blend of traditional Indian elements and modern design, meticulously created by Disha’s aunt. Every material, handpicked from India, contributed to their exquisite ensembles. Their outfits, in a neutral ivory palette with sleek lines and gold accents, struck a balance between Disha’s minimalist elegance and Neil’s penchant for a bit of sparkle. Disha’s lehenga traded flashy embellishments for clean, chic lines, while Neil’s sherwani glimmered subtly, a nod to his love for bling. After the ceremonial exchange of garlands, a walk around the sacred fire, and a playful bridesmaid-led shoe heist, the couple, led by their familes, went outside to wave to the departing couple.
The Evening
As a wedding photographer, I revel in capturing the tranquil moments that follow the ceremony. You’re married, so there’s a particular feeling of completion in the air – no more nerves or anxiety. Just togetherness. The calm, the solidity, the intimate air that settles is magical. Disha donned her reception outfits, leading to serene, joy-filled moments with her sister, before Neil’s arrival in his classic black tux.
The Reception:
The guests at Disha and Neil’s Capitol One Hall wedding reception were immersed in an atmosphere of sophisticated charm, enveloped in the soft, alluring glow of flickering candles and ornate golden lamps shaped like delicate flowers. This exquisite lighting setup cast a warm, inviting aura over the entire space, creating an ambiance that was both elegant and intimate.
The decor, curated to enhance the venue’s chic ambiance, featured brass tealight holders, each artistically entwined with brass flowers. Complementing these centerpieces were tiny bud vases, gracefully arranged and overflowing with freshly picked roses. Their sweet fragrance subtly perfumed the air, adding a sensory dimension to the visual feast.
As the evening unfolded, the mood shifted.
M4u, renowned for their dynamic and engaging music, took the helm, infusing the air with infectious rhythms.
The dance floor was packed.
The energy was palpable.
The combination of the stunning decor, the romantic ambiance created by the candles and lamps, and the unifying effect of music, all contributed to an atmosphere that was both magical and unforgettable.
